EDUCATION FOR MINISTRY (EFM)

Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m.

ADULT FORUM

Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. (except during the summer)

Adults meet between services at 9:15 a.m. for a variety of discussions ranging from biblical issues to current events from a Christian perspective, comparative study of religion, and other thought provoking and spiritually nourishing topics. The facilitator seeks to encourage an atmosphere ripe for interactive conversation and exploration. If you would like additional information on the Adult Forum, please speak with Andrena Wishnie.

THE CATECHUMENATE

Catechesis is a process of learning and achieving spiritual formation for the purpose of making each person's faith become living, conscious, and active. During this process, individuals learn how to become involved actively with others in the spreading of the Gospel, building up of the Church through the testimony of their lives, thus taking an apostolic role in the world.

"Walking with Our Lord", begins each year in Mid-January and is a four month, evening Catechism in the basics of the Faith and its practice in the context of the Episcopal Church.

This program is intended for the following people, called by God to a process of new commitment and spiritual growth: 1) Adult Candidates for Baptism, 2) Candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation, 3) Candidates for Reception (individuals already Confirmed in the Roman Catholic or Orthodox churches and now wishing to be received into the Episcopal Church), 4) Those wishing to renew their Baptismal vows and anyone else in our community who would like to learn more about Christianity, Anglicanism, the Episcopal Church.

YOUTH FORMATION

CHILDREN'S CHAPEL

Sunday morning at 10:15 a.m. (except during the summer months)

Children experience age appropriate worship that includes Bible lessons and prayer. The goal of the curriculum is to teach and share stories of faith. Children them rejoin their families at the Peace remaining with the congregation.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday mornings at 10:15 a.m. (except during the summer months)

The Sunday School program uses the Episcopal Church Curriculum (ECC) from the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA. It is lectionary based and emphasizes the life of Jesus, as well as the Saints of the Old and New Testaments, the ministry of Paul, and the Sacraments of the Church. The aim is for young people to become not just biblically literate, but evermore aware of Christ's presence working in and through their lives.

JOURNEY TO ADULTHOOD

Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. (times may vary, please check with mentors)

From 12 to 18 years of age our youth make many difficult decisions relating to college, friendships, romance, peer pressure, smoking...along with a host of others. Suddenly, one day they get a driver's license and the next we know, they are preparing to leave home. The J2A program is designed specifically to "stay in dialogue" with these young members as they make life-shaping decisions. While no adult can make these decisions for them, we can assure our youth of the love and acceptance of their Church community, and work alongside them in prayerful expectation that they will be "touched by the holy," be shaped in Christ and accept increasing leadership responsibility in the Community of Faith today, and always!
